“We can, we must, we will!”

On October 9, Perak DAP held its 16th annual convention at the Ritz Garden Hotel in Ipoh. DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng and DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang leaders were present to officiate the event. Close to 200 state delegates turned up for the event.

Perak DAP and Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham in his keynote address spoke about the challenges and tasks that DAP and Pakatan Rakyat will face in the coming general election. This year’s theme for the convention “We Can, We Must, We Will” that explained about the necessity for PR to reclaim Perak and prepare for the battle to form federal government.

Ngeh spoke about the need to not get complacent with the advantage that PR currently enjoys in Perak. “PR has eight seats where we won in 2008 with less than 1,000 votes. On the other hand, we can also win big as BN has 10 seats which they won by less than 1000 votes (three of which won by less than a 100 votes). We can win 41 seats to form a very stable government if these seats fall into our hands,’ he said.

He also said that the Perak power grab has proven to be a silver lining for PR. “The people will be able to see that the chief architect in the Perak power grab is Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak. They will not fall for his slogans.”

“Similarly Dato’ Seri Zambry Bin Abdul Kadir will not have the benefit of newly assuming office as Menteri Besar. The people see through him. His thousands of banners and billboards trying to portray himself in a good light will not be able to deceive the people,” he added.

During the convention, Perak DAP also announced the launching of its new website, www.dapperak.org.
