OUR CANDIDATE| Wong Bor Yang is currently a Special Officer to Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching and former DAP Chief Whip for the Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu) from 2018 to 2020.
Before joining the world of politics, Bor Yang worked as a reporter in Johor Bahru for 4 years.
Realising that his beloved state was in real need of change, he decided to join the Kulai MP’s office in 2014 to help Nie Ching in both office and constituency affairs.
These past 8 years, Bor Yang has come to be known by Senai and Kulai residents from all walks of life. Likewise, he also gets along very well with public servants in Kulai.
When Pakatan Harapan first won the Johor state government, Bor Yang who was only 32 years old at that time was entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out his role as MPKu Chief Whip for DAP.
From 2018 to 2020, he was appointed as an MPKu councilor. During this period, Bor Yang led his team to realise MPKu’s vision – “Perbandaran Cemerlang, Sejahtera Semua” (Excellent Municipal, Prosperous Citizen).
In 2020, the Kulai Municipal Council was listed as one of Malaysia’s Top 10 happiest towns/ cities for 2019, a sign that his team’s effort and hard work had paid off. This result was announced by PlanMalaysia and was based on the Happiness Index.
In addition, Bor Yang was given an award for excellent service in 2018 on 28 February 2019, presented by the former Yang Dipertua of Kulai Municipal Council, Tuan Haji Mohammed Shakib Bin Haji Ali.
