The Young Global Leader awardees are chosen from among outstanding leaders below the age of 40 for their professional accomplishments and commitments to society. Sim and Nurul Izzah will join illustrious alumni including Google Founder Larry Page and UK Prime Minister David Cameron.

30-year old Sim was a former special assistant to DAP MP for Bukit Mertajam, Chong Eng. He currently serves as a local councilor in the Province Wellesley Municipal Council (MPSP).

At a press conference announcing the Young Global Leader award, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng expressed his pride that Sim, a Penangite, was selected by a top global gathering of world leaders for the award.
