Whistles distributed in public safety exercise

3 Nov 2013, Seri Kembangan: DAP Wanita Selangor led by state chief and Subang Jaya assemblyperson, Hannah Yeoh carried out a public safety activity this morning at the Seri Kembangan market.

The whistle distribution activity DAP Selangor committee members Medaline Chang and Evonne Lee as well as 14 DAP Wanita Serdang members. Also present was Seri Kembangan assemblyman and Selangor Exco member, Ean Yong Hian Wah.

Yeoh and Ean Yong both spoke about the prevalence of crime and Ean Yong lamented that victims of crime were often reluctant to report thefts or robberies, especially restaurant owners.

Yeoh said that she had recently carried out a whistle distribution event in her constituency of Subang Jaya, adding that the police agreed it could deter would-be snatch thieves and robbers.

Evonne Lee highlighted two recent cases of snatch theft in the area, namely Taman Bukit Belimbing and Kg Seri Kembangan. In both cases, the victims were ladies, one of them elderly. Lee hoped that the police will increase the number and frequency of patrols in the Seri Kembangan area.

1,000 whistles were given out to members of the public, market vendors and coffeeshop patrons in the area around the market.
