KUALA LUMPUR — Father of Saiful Bukhari Azlan, Azlan Lazim issued a public apology to Anwar Ibrahim and his family on 8 March, claiming that his son has been used by certain quarters in order to defame the ex-deputy premier.

Azlan said he “deeply regretted” the slanders thrown against Anwar, further stating that his confession is coming out of “continuous guilt and disturbance inside him” over the years.

Saiful Bukhari pressed sodomy chargers against Anwar in2008, unleashing another trial episode known as ‘Sodomy II’. The Opposition Leader was acquitted of the charges on 9 January 2012.

Last week, Azlan announced that he had joined PKR.
