\"kula<\/a>Ipoh Barat MP Kula Segaran wants swift action taken against Ustaz Shahul Seeni Mohd who had infuriated the Hindu community when he\u00a0mocked a Hindu goddess during\u00a0a speech in Shah Alam this February.<\/p>\n

This was following a viral video recording of a speech titled\u00a0“Halal Haram dalam kehidupan seorang Muslim” at Surau Ar-Rahmah, Shah Alam\u00a0where Ustaz Shahul\u00a0took a jibe at a Hindu goddess in his message\u00a0to boycott “Hindu products”.<\/p>\n

“Shahul\u2019s insult against Hinduism is totally unacceptable, irresponsible and dangerous. The case cannot be closed with a mere apology from him,” Kula demanded that the Police take necessary actions against him, as a response to more than 400 police reports lodged nationwide against Shahul.<\/p>\n

The Ipoh Barat MP \u00a0also said that if reports that the preacher\u00a0is a member\u00a0of PAS are true, the party should take action against him.<\/div>\n

“Since there is report that Shahul may be a PAS member, I ask that PAS let the public know if the report is true.\u00a0If he is indeed a PAS member, then PAS must immediately expel him from the Party,” Kula said.<\/div>\n

Kula Segaran added that since GE 13, extremist groups and individuals have been inciting racial and religious tensions with no\u00a0signs of stopping.<\/p>\n

“Racial and religious conflict can destroy a nation and the government and Police must not take any act of inciting racial or religious conflict lightly,” he added, asking the government to send a “zero tolerance” message to extremists who “play with fire” with\u00a0religious insults by punishing Ustaz Shahul.<\/p>\n

Police had brought in\u00a0the Ustaz on 31 July, to conduct investigations on the issue. He was later freed and made a public apology for his remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am willing to meet with Indian community leaders to explain myself.” said Shahul, who is also of Indian heritage.<\/p>\n

“I also hope that the police reports against me will be retracted and I will not face any legal action,” said Shahul.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0viral video that caused the controversy showed Shahul\u00a0preaching to\u00a0Muslims about boycotting\u00a0Hindu products such as Alagappas, and Babas, and to support Muslim products instead.<\/div>\n

To support his point, the Ustaz also said “If you go to the Alagappa’s factory near Permatang Pauh, you will see a statue [goddess] at the entrance, and the tongue is sticking out. Why is the tongue out? Because the goddess must taste all the curry powder before they sell it.”<\/div>\n
