\"ong<\/a>Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming slammed Barisan Nasional and their operatives for allegedly spoofing DAP phones to send out messages asking recipients to vote for Barisan Nasional candidate Mah Siew Keong in the upcoming Teluk Intan by-elections.<\/p>\n

According to the MP, phones meant to communicate with those interested in using DAP’s bus services back to the constituency to vote, had been hacked to send out messages to those who called or texted the number saying in Chinese,<\/p>\n

\u201cTomorrow is polling day. With all sincerity, I ask my respected voters to vote for me, Mah Siew Keong (BN). I will promise to make a better future for Teluk Intan\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ong condemned the attempts to sabotage the DAP campaign.<\/p>\n

“This action was clearly undertaken in order to sabotage DAP\u2019s effort to encourage a higher turnout for the Teluk Intan by-election. The BN knows that if the turnout rate is higher i.e. more than 70%, the lower the changes for its candidate to win this seat.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The Serdang MP called upon outstation voters of Teluk Intan to send a resounding message to the saboteurs\u00a0<\/span>that these tricks will not work. He called on the\u00a0voters to come back in droves so that the turnout rate exceeds 70% by a comfortable margin, echoing the opinion of DAP leaders that a lower voter turnout would affect the votes for the Pakatan Rakyat candidate in Teluk Intan.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the DAP announced that it would be providing a bus service<\/a> at cost for Teluk Intan voters in the Klang Valley to return to Teluk Intan to vote in the upcoming by-election on the 31<\/span>st<\/sup>\u00a0of May, 2014. They had asked voters requiring this bus service to call a number that would be manned by DAP volunteers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The number had then been spammed by foreign numbers and prank called by a third party, that the DAP believes to be Barisan Nasional or their supporters.<\/p>\n

“This action prevented genuine callers who wanted to book a seat on our bus from calling this number,” explained Ong Kiang Ming.<\/span><\/p>\n

In recent weeks, other reports of phone hacking or “spoofing” targeted at the phones of Pakatan Rakyat MP’s and Assemblyman has caused suspicion in the opposition camp of the tactics employed by the Barisan Nasional regime.<\/p>\n

According to the Pakatan Rakyat leaders, the messages sent out from their phones were intended to provoke racial and religious tensions, and engineer a PAS – DAP conflict despite PAS’s strong support of the Dyana Sofya campaign in Teluk Intan. -The Rocket<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
