A group of DAP assemblymen have called for the Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim to listen to the concerns of residents who would be affected by the\u00a0Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (KIDEX) project.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following Selangor MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s refusal to hold meetings with affected residents over K<\/span>IDEX<\/span>, saying that until he has received a full explanation from the relevant agencies, DAP lawmakers have criticised the Selangor leadership, saying that the affected resident’s concerns should be dealt with.<\/p>\n

Kidex Sdn Bhd has not been able to furnish the public with detailed highway alignment and Traffic Impact Assessment, said Damansara Utama Assemblywoman\u00a0Yeo Bee Yin, Bukit Gasing Assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran, Kinrara Assemblyman Ng Sze Han and Kampung Tunku rep Lau Weng San in a joint statement today.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Although the CEO of KIDEX\u00a0Sdn Bhd, Mohd Nor\u00a0Bin Idrus\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0has said that the acquisition will involve only 10% of the 3,784 lots and only minimally on the residential lots, the anxiety has been growing among the residents due to the uncertainty over their lands”<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the residents, the possible-acquisition notices were served in\u00a031 July<\/span><\/span>\u00a0last year.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Without a detailed Traffic Impact Assessment, the residents who are living near to the proposed alignment will not be able to assess the impact of the highway to their day-to-day lives”<\/p>\n

“Such worry gets worse when the state government announced to have given the project \u2018approval in principle\u2019 without ensuring a proper channel for the residents to obtain enough information,” they said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The State rep’s, who have been insisting for the details of the\u00a0Traffic Impact Assessment to be revealed to residents of Petaling Jaya, Kinrara, Puchong and Damansara, also said,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Such worry gets worse when the state government he announced to have given the project \u2018approval in principle\u2019 without ensuring a proper channel for the residents to obtain enough information,” adding that they hoped for the Selangor MB to understand that due to the mammoth cost of it, the project should be called off if no sufficient justification is presented.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 14.9km elevated highway costs RM2.42 billion, which is more than RM 162 million per kilometer.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We understand that public hearing may not be possible without sufficient information from the relevant agencies, however considering the anxiety, frustration and anger of the people, we hope that the Menteri Besar will come to Petaling Jaya to at least have a dialogue with the residents to listen to the people,” said the State Reps. -The Rocket<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
