\"\"<\/a>KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Jan \u2013 The Democratic Action Party ushered in 2013 with style at the party\u2019s national celebration here in KL-Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall. They countdown event was animated by the official launching of the parody music video, titled \u201cUbah Rocket Style\u201d, accompanied with energetic performances by local artistes.<\/p>\n

Ubah Rocket Style is the DAP\u2019s take on Korean artiste PSY’s \u201cOppa Gangnam Style\u201d. The parody was made to entertain the public while sharing with everyone the message of change as the 13th General Election looms over.<\/p>\n

Attended by leaders of the DAP and Pakatan Rakyat, the event was also joined by National Laureate, Datuk A. Samad Said and his wife, Datin Rashidah Tengku Mohd Dahan. The celebrations, held on the first night of 2013, had PKR\u2019s Fahmi Fadzil and Carmen Leong from DAP Women\u2019s wing as hosts.<\/p>\n

According to DAP National Publicity Secretary, Tony Pua, it is hoped that the launching of the music video can mark a new beginning in shaping positive perceptions among the younger generation towards politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people, especially the younger people, see politics as something that is too serious,\u201d Pua said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that, with this Ubah Rocket Style, we can draw the audience pool from among the youths \u2013 who might have not paid attention before to politics \u2013 to become more concerned with issues happening in our country,\u201d he said. Pua is also the Executive Producer of the music video.<\/p>\n

Pua added, while entertaining, the parody is hoped to be able to educate as well as giving useful information about current political affairs in Malaysia.<\/p>\n

Aside from the music video launching, the special apprearance of \u201cMama\u201d captured the crowd’s attention.<\/p>\n

In the comedy sketch \u201cFokus PRU 2013\u201d, hosted by Edry Faizal, Mama\u2019s character was pictured as a thrifty lady whose passion is shopping and whose husband\u2019s decisions are dictated by her.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The sketch\u2019s slots were filled with cheeky questions towards Mama, involving her shopping habits already a talk of the town for a long while.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to the slowing down of world\u2019s economy, shopping abroad such as in Paris could help increase that particular country\u2019s income,\u201d Mama explained, to the audience\u2019s applause and roaring laughter.<\/p>\n

Mama\u2019s appearance was adored by the crowd, with most of them describing her appearance as \u201creal\u201d and \u201cenjoyable\u201d.<\/p>\n

The national DAP New Year celebration also included slots for lucky draw offering 10 guests to have a special chance for a luncheon session with the DAP Secretary-General, Lim Guan Eng.<\/p>\n

Aside from Lim, speeches were also delivered by Central DAPSY Youth Leader, Teo Kok Seong, PKR Vice President, Nurul Izzah Anwar and Pua.<\/p>\n
