\"\"<\/a>GEORGE TOWN, 15 December: DAP National Chairperson, Karpal Singh in his opening speech stressed that PAS is an important ally and friend to the party within the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe might have several differences, but it (the cooperation) is solid for a party with ideology and principles,\u201d he said to thunderous applause from the delegates and attending guests.<\/p>\n

Stressing his statement, Karpal said \u201cfor DAP, there are no permanent friends or eternal enemies, only permanent principles.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said, what is important is that Pakatan Rakyat could not afford to be reckless with an enemy that always wants to divide the understanding built between the PR coalition parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore this nobody would have expected that DAP can work with PAS, but now the Malaysian political scenario has changed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we are not changing according to time, we will be changed by time,\u201d he said confidently.<\/p>\n

DAP National Chairman Karpal Singh, Secretary General Lim Guan Eng and Lifetime Advisor Dr Chen Man HIn<\/p><\/div>\n

While referring to Penang as a good example, Karpal, who is also Member of Parliament for Gelugor puts a high optimism that PR can give an excellent service.<\/p>\n

\u201cPenang has proven to achieve teeming success under PR, what has been achieved in Penang will be achieved too in Putrajaya. It is a good example to be followed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Karpal has also called for the delegates not to forget the party veterans, their many sacrifices and endured difficult times to be appreciated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout the veterans, you won\u2019t be here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He emphasised the DAP\u2019s stand in giving full support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to become Prime Minister should Pakatan Rakyat be given the mandate to govern Malaysia.<\/p>\n

In spite his serious and spirited speech, Karpal took a moment to share his victory in his defamation suit against Utusan Malaysia, in which Karpal was awarded RM70,000 in damages and costs.<\/p>\n
