A Parliament special session must be held to discuss MACC Chief Azam Baki\u2019s proxy share trading admission!<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council in a statement today urged for a Parliament special session to be held in order to discuss the ongoing scandal surrounding the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki. Furthermore, the Presidential Council also called for Azam Baki, MACC\u2019s Consultation and Corruption Prevention Panel Chairman Tan Sri Borhan Dollah and Anti-Corruption Advisory Board (ACAB) Chairman Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang to go on leave until investigations against them are completed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The corruption allegations against Azam Baki has been rocking the nation for the past few months and has undoubtedly eroded the rakyat\u2019s trust towards MACC\u2019s credibility as an anti-corruption agency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

The PH Presidential Council, consisting of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, Mohamad Sabu and Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau urged for the special sitting to take place in the Dewan Rakyat a day prior to the special sitting to discuss the recent floods which is slated for 20 January 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the Presidential Council also referred to the media statement released by the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board (ACAB) distancing themselves from ACAB chairman Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang\u2019s act of clearing Azam Bakis\u2019s name, saying that such a development shows how the investigation made into Azam were flawed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PH Presidential Council stressed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council reviewed the media statements of six members of the ACAB who distanced themselves from the statement of Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang, the ACAB chairman who had tried to clear the name Tan Sri Azam Baki, chief commissioner of MACC.\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

\u201cThe media statement of these six ACAB members was shocking and opened the eyes of the whole country to the flaws that occurred during the investigation process into the alleged share ownership of the MACC chief commissioner,\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

The Presidential Council also criticised the action of three MACC Deputy Chief Commissioners who hastily released a media statement under MACC\u2019s name to openly express their support for Azam Baki which resembles the behaviour of politicians in a political party rather than a respectable agency such as MACC. Instead, these senior officers should\u2019ve lodged a police report against Azam and follow the police to conduct a full investigation into Azam so as to show that the agency will no try and just \u2018clear his name\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PH Presidential Council asserted,<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

\u201cAs civil servants, these three senior officers should know that their statements can be interpreted as an attempt to influence the investigation into the chief commissioner, and contain serious allegations that raise many questions,\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

The integrity and credibility of MACC must be restored to return the public\u2019s trust towards the agency again. A Parliament special sitting must be called to discuss on the Azam Baki scandal and more importantly, there must urgently be a clean, professional and independent investigation against the MACC Chief. – The Rocket.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n
