The stand of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Conference of Rulers must be endorsed by all Malaysians<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

Following the Yang di-Pertuan Agong\u2019s decree yesterday that Parliament must be convened as soon as possible, it is regrettable that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government continue to defy His Majesty\u2019s request. Just mere hours after the statements by both the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers, de facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Haji Takiyuddin Hassan played down the King\u2019s decree by saying that \u201cHis Majesty did not specify any particular date, but said it should be held as soon as possible. So the Prime Minister can announce, for example, that Parliament will reopen in September or October.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Iskandar Puteri, Lim Kit Siang today criticised<\/a> such blatant obstruction by PN against the intention of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Conference of Rulers and calls upon Takiyuddin to fully co-operate with the request. The DAP veteran stressed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

\u201cI call on Takiyuddin Hassan not to be obstinate or obstructive but to fully co-operate to convene Parliament and the various State Assemblies before August 1, 2021 as this is a clear-cut intention of the Yang di Pertuan Agong and the Rulers.\u201d<\/h4>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Lim iterated that the stand made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Conference of Rulers that Parliament and various State Legislative Assemblies must reconvene as soon as possible should be endorsed by all Malaysians, let alone the government of the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iskandar Puteri MP also hailed the Conference of Rulers\u2019 special meeting yesterday as a good example which must be followed in word and spirit by all Malaysians.
