{"id":14997,"date":"2020-07-23T14:08:37","date_gmt":"2020-07-23T06:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.therocket.com.my\/en\/?p=14997"},"modified":"2020-07-23T14:09:37","modified_gmt":"2020-07-23T06:09:37","slug":"lim-guan-eng-urges-pn-to-extend-moratorium-and-double-the-electricity-bill-rebate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.therocket.com.my\/en\/lim-guan-eng-urges-pn-to-extend-moratorium-and-double-the-electricity-bill-rebate\/","title":{"rendered":"Lim Guan Eng urges PN to extend moratorium and double the electricity bill rebate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\" src=\"https:\/\/www.therocket.com.my\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/feateeee.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15066\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Member of Parliament for Bagan, Lim Guan Eng urges the government to take some proactive measures to lessen the rakyat\u2019s burden affected by the spread of Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was after the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in his speech yesterday reminded the rakyat to remain vigilant regarding the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guan Eng stressed that a reminder is not enough and that the government should introduce practical measures to assist the rakyat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These include doubling the electrical bill rebates to users as well as extending the loan moratorium given to borrowers by another six months after its end this September.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe PM also said (in his speech) that the government is mulling to mandate the use of face mask in public places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf this measure is implemented, I urge the government to reduce the maximum price of three-ply masks back to 80 sen.\u201d said Guan Eng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, the PN government increased the maximum price of 80 sen set by the PH government for a three-ply mask to RM2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, Guan Eng who is the former Finance Minister also questioned the validity of the claim by Muhyiddin that 2.75 million jobs have been saved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHow can 2.75 million jobs be saved when the employment rate has climbed to 5.3 percent or more than 830,000 people?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this week, former Transport Minister, Anthony Loke corrected the glaring errors in Muhyiddin&#8217;s speech regarding the number of e-hailing drivers registered with Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Loke clarified that the number of e-hailing drivers in Malaysia are far from 1.4 million as claimed by Muhyiddin in his speech but only around 120,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\" src=\"https:\/\/www.therocket.com.my\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/feat.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15065\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The mistakes in the figures mentioned were admitted by the Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and was corrected by the Prime Minister\u2019s Office in a media statement yesterday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Member of Parliament for Bagan, Lim Guan Eng urges the government to take some proactive measures to lessen the rakyat\u2019s burden affected by the spread of Covid-19.
