KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 6: Amidst the political storm that transpired recently, calls have been made by the DAP to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that a definitive response should be made to clear the allegation of embezzlement targeting the embattled premier.<\/span><\/p>\n

Give formal response to WSJ article, Najib<\/p><\/div>\n

DAP Parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang in a statement today said a meeting of progressive MPs will be scheduled at noon tomorrow; and this is the perfect platform for Najib to give a formal answer to the accusations that funds from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) were transferred to his own account.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is in light of a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) article which accused Najib of using US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) to, among others, fund the general election campaign machinery.<\/span><\/p>\n

Li, said every <\/span>day that passes without a formal response from the Prime Minister is a day passed with more public speculation and detriment to Najib\u2019s reputation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNajib should heed the advice of his younger brother and CIMB Chairman, Nazir Razak, who, in a post from Instagram with a photograph of the National Monument, penned that in \u2018this darkest of political times, we must remember to place the country and the rakyat first \u2013 not personal interests, nor personal loyalties, not even party politics.\u2019,\u201d urged Lim.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, Malaysia is facing a great Prime Ministerial crisis and never had such accusation brought forth by an international and reputable source been leveled against a Prime Minister in a nation\u2019s history, Lim added.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy is there no emergency Cabinet meeting, special meeting of Parliament, emergency meeting of UMNO Supreme Council and the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy does the current governing political institution carry on their business as if \u201cnothing has happened\u201d while the Malaysian citizens and international media outlets are riddled by Malaysia political crisis?\u201d he further questioned.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among others, Lim said that these questions will be the agenda for the meeting of progressive MPs in parliament tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n

Najib, who has since denied the allegations made by WSJ, has also threatened to sue the internationally-renowned newspaper.<\/p>\n
