<\/a>Gabungan Impian Kelantan hopes to raise RM3.2 million for a new village for flood victims in Kelantan<\/p><\/div>\n
The DAP, through the Gabungan Impian Kelantan, is hosting the dinner in order to raise RM3.2 million to relocate the residents of Guchil in Kuala Krai, Kelantan to a new village about 9km away from the original village.<\/span><\/p>\n Gabungan Impian Kelantan is a coalition of non-governmental organisations and political parties formed to help the flood victims in the east coast state.<\/p>\n The new village will not only have about 40 homes, but also a community hall, a playground, and an aquaponics fish-rearing project to help the villagers.<\/span><\/p>\n In announcing the dinner at a press conference today, DAP national vice-chairperson Teresa Kok said the village will be located on higher ground some five acres large at Kampung Sungai Mas.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe hope the public will support this project and make it a success to help the villagers there,\u201d she said. <\/span><\/p>\n The first phase of the project would need RM2 million to build 40 houses, with the cost of each house at RM50,000.<\/span><\/p>\n The remaining RM1.2 million will be used to build the surrounding facilities. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAnyone interested to help can purchase a ticket for the dinner at RM200 per person, or RM2,000 per table. Those who donate RM10,000 will be given four tickets, as well as be invited to cut the ribbon during the opening ceremony and have their names written on the wall of the community hall at the village,\u201d she said. <\/span><\/p>\n Among the activities to be held at the dinner includes a magic show, dance and music performance and many more.<\/span><\/p>\n There will also be a line-up of speakers who will be at the dinner, including former Bar Council president S. Ambiga, national laureate A.
