Why be angry at DAP? Guan Eng asks Hadi

Statement from DAP secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng

Lim Guan Eng

DAP is puzzled by PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang religious pronouncement that it is an obligation for Muslims to vent their anger at DAP for opposing the implementation of hudud laws in Kelantan. Hadi said Allah permitted Muslims to be angry and Muslims should therefore be angry with the DAP for opposing hudud laws.

DAP was only formed in 1966. DAP is not aware that it is stated in a great and holy religion like Islam, that anger towards DAP is permitted by Allah. As a non-Muslim without any knowledge of Islam, I am only aware that Islam is a religion of peace and not one of anger. I would like to ask Hadi to state where in the Quran or that believers of Islam should be always angry against disbelievers or those who disagree.

Also, why is Hadi not angry with others who oppose hudud but only with DAP? DAP opposes hudud laws not because it is part of Islam but because hudud is unconstitutional, where even the Supreme Court has ruled that hudud is not permitted by our Federal Constitution.

Is Hadi angry only with DAP by reason that DAP is the only party that is sincere and serious in opposing hudud laws unlike the other parties who are not committed but play-acting subject to the direction and dictates of UMNO? Hadi is wrong because it is not only DAP but the majority of the rakyat, especially those from Sabah and Sarawak who oppose the implementation of hudud laws.

Despite that, to serve for his own narrow political interests, Hadi has decided to paint DAP as the biggest obstacle to hudud. This is probably why he wants the Muslims to be angry with DAP but not BN or UMNO, causing him to say “We have to be angry. As Muslims, we must be angry (over this issue),”

DAP Has No Knowledge Of Any PR Unity Government With UMNO In 2009

Hadi’s close collaboration with UMNO and BN has been slowly revealed with each passing day. Hadi showed his hand when he openly and publicly supported Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to continue as Prime Minister, despite the 1MDB scandals, the sale of land to Lembaga Tabung Haji by 1MDB, the disastrous economic impact of GST on the rakyat and Tun Dr Mahathir’s attacks against Najib.

Hadi’s revelation today of a national unity government in 2009 in the midst of the Perak constitutional crisis, which he is still keen, shows how far he is in aligning himself with UMNO and BN. Hadi said that the idea of a national unity government was approved by jailed PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the late PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

This is a surprising new revelation because DAP leaders were never informed of a national unity government with UMNO and BN in 2009. Hadi may be keen on the idea but the proposed national unity government must have excluded completely the DAP. PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has clearly abandoned its slogan of “PAS For All” by abandoning Malaysians from Sabah, Sarawak and non-Malays, in wanting to form a Malay-only Pakatan unity government with UMNO and BN.

Hadi may not care that such actions will be seen as a betrayal by non-Malays and voters from Sabah and Sarawak, who supported PAS in the last general elections. However PAS may suffer from anti-BN voters, unhappy with Hadi’s actions in secretly trying to form a unity government with BN, in the next general election.
