Calling on outstation voters, use email to reach us for DAP’s buses!

Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming (pic) pointed out that in DAP’s effort to encourage outstation voters in Kuala Lumpur to come back to vote by the handphone number of the contact person for that area has been hacked. “DAP will be using email instead to for the people who wants to board the bus to Teluk Intan,” he said.

He said that the person’s handphone number have been misused and had received a lot of prank calls and SMSes, which prevented him from receiving calls from people who genuinely want to use the service‎.
“Clearly, the hacking was undertaken by BN. Not only has it disrupted our service, but they used it against us by hijacking numbers to blast messages.”

He said BN had done this to ensure a low turnout for Saturday’s by-election, noting that DAP would lose should fewer than 65% voters cast their ballots.

According to Ong, there are around 6,000 outstation voters from Teluk Intan and DAP has already contacted 1000 persons to come back to vote but only estimated 50% indicated there will return to vote. “That is not enough for us to win.” Many are also using their own transport to come back.

In the last general election, Teluk Intan registered a 80% voter turnout, the highest ever in the constituency.‎ There are more than 60,000 voters in Teluk Intan.

In addition Perak DAP state secretary Wong Kah Woh also said that the original plan to ferry Singapore-based Teluk Intan voters back to Singapore after voting which would use four buses for that purpose will now be extended to Johor Bahru based Teluk Intan voters as well.

“However to come back to Teluk Intan they need to arrange for their own transport,” Wong said.
