PH-Federal Government MoU is in line with the principles of transparency and accountability championed by DAP

We must return to the basic principles enshrined in the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Iskandar Puteri, Lim Kit Siang has reiterated that the Transformation and Political Stability MoU signed between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the Federal Government is in full accordance with the principles of transparency and accountability that have consistently been fought for by DAP and the opposition. Furthermore, the DAP veteran also stressed that the opposition have no secret clauses or understandings apart from what is stated inside the MoU.

In a statement on Saturday (25 September 2021), Lim also asserted that the MoU signifies a rare opportunity to realise some of DAP’s ideas and ideals which is brought forth by a unique set of political circumstances, especially at a time when the country is facing an existential threat of the Covid-19 pandemic which requires the unity of all Malaysians regardless of race, religion, region or politics.

These ideals and ideas include the personal struggle of Lim Kit Siang himself who advocated for an anti-party-hopping law in Parliament since 1978 and DAP’s advocation of equal allocation for all MPs regardless of allegiance for more than 50 years. Both of the above are present inside the PH-Federal Government MoU and would usher in a new stable and inclusive era in Malaysian politics.

Moreover, the DAP veteran also urged all Malaysians to return to the basic principles enshrined in the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara. He also clarified that the 10-member steering committee of the PH-Federal Government MoU have a very important role to ensure the integrity of Malaysia Agreement 1963 and judicial independence so that our country can achieve its destiny to be a world-class great nation.

The Iskandar Puteri MP further stressed,

“We are in politics because we have a vision for Malaysia to become a better country – a world-class great nation. But this requires a long struggle counted in years and even decades as it  cannot be achieved overnight.”

“Should we forego the opportunity to realise some of our ideas and ideals because of an unique set of political circumstances, especially at a time when the country is faced with an existential threat of the Covid-19 pandemic?”

In the same statement, Lim also refuted those that claimed that Ismail Sabri would be unbeatable in the 15th General Election (GE15) should he reverse the tide of defeat and wins the war against Covid-19 with the help of the opposition. The Iskandar Puteri MP classified this sort of thinking as wrong because when our country is faced with an existential threat, all Malaysians must put their differences aside to protect the lives, livelihoods and the national fabrics of Malaysian society.

Furthermore, Lim also stressed that GE15 will be won by those who have a vision for a better future for all Malaysians. GE14 has clearly shown that a resounding majority of Malaysians believe in PH’s vision of the future before the ultimate betrayal by traitors and opportunists stole and make a mockery of the rakyat’s mandate. – The Rocket.
