MB Azmin’s backing solid, DAP rubbishes “vote of no confidence” rumour

lim azminDAP brushed aside Mahathir Mohamed’s prediction of a no-confidence motion against Selangor MB Azmin Ali as mere rumours by the former premier.

“DAP is puzzled at former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement of a motion of no-confidence against Azmin Ali as the new Selangor Menteri Besar in the November sitting of the Selangor State Assembly,” said Lim Guan Eng, DAP Secretary General in a statement today.

Mahathir Mohamed had warned yesterday of a possible no-confidence motion against Azmin Ali but hoped that the majority of the Selangor State Assemblymen would support Azmin.

“DAP has not received any indication that there will be such a motion and will oppose any no-confidence motion against Azmin Ali because DAP’s 15 Selangor ADUNs fully supports the PKR Deputy President as the new Selangor Menteri Besar,” Lim Guan Eng added.

The DAP Secretary General said that he had spoken to Pakatan Rakyat De-Facto Leader Anwar Ibrahim this morning to convey the party’s commitment to the Pakatan Rakyat candidate which was selected by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah amid the Selangor MB crisis that witnessed the ousting of Khalid Ibrahim.

“Azmin should be given solid backing to get on with the business of governing Selangor for the rakyat’s benefit and need not look over his shoulder every time he carries out his duties,” he added. -The Rocket
