KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 8: Police are raiding the headquarters of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) here.

The daily confirmed that police were present at the office, and was told that journalists are not allowed into the 1MDB office on the 8th floor of the building.

“Even the despatch people are not allowed in as they don’t want to be disturbed,” a receptionist was quoted as saying.

The raid on 1MDB follows those at three 1MDB linked companies– SRC International Sdn Bhd, Gandingan Mentari Sdn Bhd, and Ihsan Perdana Sdn Bhd — recently.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was on Friday implicated by international newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) as having received as much as US$700 million from 1MDB. The paper also alleged that these funds were transferred into Najib’s personal accounts shortly before the 13th General Elections in May 2013.

Meanwhile, Malaysiakini quoted a senior police officer who confirmed the raids, but refused to provide any further details.
